The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana created the Homesteaders of Allen County, Indiana in 2001 for descendants of Allen County, Indiana residents who settled in the county between January 1, 1851 and December 31, 1875.

If you have an ancestor who was in Allen County prior to December 31, 1875 and wish to apply go to "Homesteaders of Allen County."

Proof of descent is required for both Homesteaders and First Families. Applications and most of the data in First Families and Homesteaders files is on microfilm at the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center.
