In spite of all the wonderful information found online, the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center has been acquiring an average of 1,000 new volumes each month for over a decade. It is unlikely even a small percentage of their collection will be online any time soon. ACPL open racks currently house over 350,000 printed volumes, 513,000 rolls of microfilm or microfiche and has access to over 2.4 million rolls of microfilm for the cost of a small mailing fee from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. So a personal visit to ACPL or other libraries relevant to your family search will lead to discoveries not found online. Internet Archive reports over 7,500 volumes scanned on their site at the Allen County Public Library. Internet Archive also reports over 7,500 volumes with Allen County, Indiana in a keyword search. Either one is less than one year of new acquisitions at Allen County Public Library.

Heritage descent is you to your ancestor, lineage descent is person of note to you. You generally need to prove your descent with copies of certificates of birth, marriage and death; Bible records with page listing Bible copyright to prove age of Bible; records for land, wills, probate and military, or from books, newspapers. It depends on the organization requirements.
