Four Presidents Corners

Four Presidents Corners is the intersection of Maples and Sampson Roads in southeastern Allen County, Indiana, just northwest of Monroeville. This intersection is the junction of four townships, each named for a former president. Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and Andrew Jackson (the third, fourth, fifth, and seventh presidents) are the namesakes of the four townships.

Our focus is the history of these four townships.

Four Presidents Corners Timeline

  • 1915 - Joseph Marquart was killed when his wagon was hit by a train four miles west of Monroeville.
  • 1917 - (Sep. 22) Five thousand were present at the dedication of the monument at Four Presidents Corners. The celebration included a flag raising, speeches, and a band concert.
