  • 01 Jan 1920 That her husbands interest in injuries which she sustained in an automobile accident were only mercenary in their nature is the declaration of Alice Broan in a divorce complaint which she has filed against Gus Brown. She alleges that when she was hurt when an automobile hit the wagon in which she was riding that her husband showed no interest and made no inquiries, but that the action of an attorney in informing him that these was a possible ground for a damage suit caused him to take immediate notice. She also alleges failure to provide and abuse. She asks $1,000 alimony and the custody of thier children with an allowance for their support.
  • 01 Jan 1920 Jesse R. Corbin against Virginia Corbin, for divorce on ground of cruel and inhuman treatment.
  • 01 Jan 1920 John Parrish has filed a cross complaint in the divorce action instituted by Elizabeth Parrish. He alleges that she is insanely jealous and that her allegations of improper relations with other women grow out of this state of mind. He also alleges that the plaintiff is reckless and improvident in the expenditure of his money.
  • 03 Jan 1920 Alidy Sevu has the distinction of filing the first divorce case in 1920 and the complaint in which she seeks relief from the companionship of Jack Sevu on grounds of cruelty and failure to provide, was filed yesterday. She seeks the restoration of her maiden name and a restraining order to prevent her husband from annoying her at her home.
  • 03 Jan 1920 In the divorce proceedings of Frank W. Ellison against Alice Ellison the defendant has filed a petition for an increase in her allowance from $6 to $15. She sets out that she scalded her hand yesterday and for that reason is unable to work.
  • 04 Jan 1920 A divorce was granted the plaintiff in the action of Bessie Tenker against John W. Tenker. The plaintiff was granted the custody of Clifford D., aged five months, with an allowance of $4 per week for his support and the defendant was granted the custody of Dorothy May, aged three. Both parents are to have the privilege of visiting the children at proper times.
  • 06 Jan 1920 Mrs. Ivy Ozaki is suing for divorce and $5,000 alimony from Henry Y. Ozaki, alleging that her husband on October 19, 1919, fled to Beaumont, Texas, after disposing of his photograph studio and other property in this city. She alleges that he forced her to work in his studio and told her that he didn't care for her. She seeks an injuction to tie up the defendant's property, pending the decision in the divorce action.
  • 06 Jan 1920 Dora Fudge is seeking a divorce from Otis Fudge, alleging that the defendant deserted her on October 1, 1919, without cause, and that she has to work to support herself. She asks a divorce, the custody of their children and an allowance for support.
  • 06 Jan 1920 Alleging separation, Dorothy Sellars is seeking a divorce from Charles N. Sellars. She ask the custody of their two children and an order for money for their support.
  • 06 Jan 1920 The divorce case of Gertrude Shuster against Morris Shuster, has been dismissed in the superior court.
  • 07 Jan 1920 Ross Lee is seeking a divorce from Helen Lee on the ground of cruel treatment. He asks the custody of their child.
  • 07 Jan 1920 Gladys Rondot against William Rondot for divorce, alleging desertion.
  • 08 Jan 1920 Ralph Powlen is seeking a divorce from Alta May Powlen on the grounds of desertion.
  • 08 Jan 1920 An allowance of $15 per week and alimony in the sum of $2,000 is demanded by Doshia Brannum against Will Brannum in divorce proceedings filed yesterday. She alleges that he cursed her and failed to provide.
  • 09 Jan 1920 Demand for $2,000 alimony is contained in the divorce petition of May Huguenard against Frank J. Huguenard. She alleges that he cursed her and called her foul names. Plaintiff asks the custody of their four children and an allowance for their support in addition to alimony.
  • 09 Jan 1920 Hazel Burton has been granted a divorce from James Burton.
  • 10 Jan 1920 A petition for a writ of habeas corpus was filed yesterday by the plaintiff in the divorce case of William Rondot against Gladys Rondot through which Mr. Rondot seeks to obtain the custody of his two children, Billy, ages 18 months, and Madeline, aged 6 years. He alleges that he is the natural guardian of the children and that they may be injured both physically and morally by remaining in the custody of the defendant.
  • 10 Jan 1920 Florence Waltz against Frank Waltz for divorce on the grounds of cruelty and failure to provide.
  • 10 Jan 1920 Fred Voge was granted a divorce from Pearl Voge and given the custody of their 13 year old son.
  • 11 Jan 1920 The divorce suit of Russell Wells against Mary Wells was sent to Huntington circuit court on a change of venue.
  • 11 Jan 1920 An order of $8 a week for the support of minor children and an allowance fro attorneys fees was entered yesterday in the divorce proceedings of May Huguenard against F. J. Huguenard.
  • 11 Jan 1920 Finding was had for the plaintiff in the divorce case of Helen Johnson against Lester B. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is granted the custody of their two minor children, Harry, aged 7, and Louise, aged 5, and is ordered not to marry again for two years.
  • 13 Jan 1920 In a complaint for a divorce from Guy Rudisell, filed yesterday, Mildred Rudisell sets out that they were married on February 28, 1917, and lived together only until September 24, 1917. She sets out that last August the defendant wrote to her from some point in Kentucky telling her he was through with her and would never come back.
  • 13 Jan 1920 Charging that the defendaant rented a home for another woman, is contributing to her support and is frequently seen with her in public, Lenora Wagner yester filed a complaint seeking separation from Frank Wagner. Her lack of confidence in her husband is further indicated throught the statement that she believed he entertained another woman at their home during her absence, prior to their separation. Failure to provide is also charged. She wants a separation for ten years and an allowance of $15 per week for her support.
  • 13 Jan 1920 Clarence W. Pattee is seeking a divorce from Pearl M. Pattee alleging that his wife was guilty of misconduct before their marriage. He declares that his wife, who is somewhere in the east, has asked him to free her in order that she may marry the father of her child. They separated, he avers shortly after their marriage when she disclosed to him that she was soon to give birth to a child and told him the name of its father.
  • 13 Jan 1920 In a cross complaint filed in the case of Jesse R. Corbin against Virginia Corbin the defendant declares that charges against her in the complaint are false and relates that the plaintiff had made a persistent effort to get the control of her savings.
  • 14 Jan 1920 In the divorce action of Agnes R. Case against William E. Case, finding was had for the plaintiff.
  • 14 Jan 1920 The divorce action of Emme Hoehne against Adolph Hoehne was dismissed by the plaintiff.
  • 14 Jan 1920 Helen R. Hetrick in a divorce action against George W. Hetrick filed yesterday afternoon, declared that her husband would go away from home two or three months at a time, leaving her no money with which to maintain herself. There are other allegations in support od charges of cruel treatment and failure to provide.
  • 15 Jan 1920 Inez Jackson is seeking a divorce from Perry Jackson. She asks for the custoody of their son, Paul, aged nine, and states that the defendant can provide a good home for their other son, Donald, if awarded the custody of the boy. She alleges that her husband has threatened to kill her and asks a restraining order to prevent his visiting her home at 1213 Ewing street.
  • 15 Jan 1920 Thomas Kerfoot is seeking a divorce from Jennie Kerfoot, alleging that she called him names and falsely accused him. He wants the custody of their youngest son.
  • 16 Jan 1920 The difficulties which a jealous wife can throw in the path of a photographer are the theme of a cross complaint filed yesterday by the defendant in the case of Ivy Ozaki against Henry Y. Ozaki, for divorce. Mr. Ozaki asserts that his wife persisted in staying about his studio and was insanely jealous of coustomer, insulting ladies who visited the studio, scratching and mutilating the negatives of subjects to which she took a dislike and borgidding her husband to employ female help. He also asserts the she abused him, made fales accusations against him and on one occasion threatened him with a revolver.
  • 16 Jan 1920 A suit to annul a marriage on the ground that the bride was but 17 years of age when the wedding was performed was filed yesterday by Ruby V. Carter against Samuel W. Carter. She als alleges that her husband deserted her on October 2, 1919, less than a week after their marriage on September 27, 1919. The plaintiff asks for the restoration of her maiden name, Presler.
  • 16 Jan 1920 Charles E. Burns has filed suit for divorce from Barbara Burns charging cruel and inhuman treatment and alleging that she associates with women of doubtful character. He sets out that he filed suit for divorce on a previous occasion and withdrew it on the representations of his wife that she would do better.
  • 16 Jan 1920 Wilbur Welsh is suing for divorce from Blanche Welsh alleging cruel treatment.
  • 16 Jan 1920 Finding was had for the plaintiff in the divorce suit of John A. Wyatt against Leona M. Wyatt and alimony in the sum of $150 was granted to be paid in three monthly installments.
  • 17 Jan 1920 Maud L. Huber is suing for divorce from Tony Huber alleging that he abused her and called her names. She wants the custody of their child.
  • 17 Jan 1920 Wealthy M. Stewart is seeking a divorce from Eber Stewart charging failure to provide. She asks an order for support money and an injunction to prevent the defendant from visiting her home to injure her.
  • 17 Jan 1920 Charity Bovine is seeking a divorce from Henry Bovine with the custody of their child and support money. She alleged cruel treatment.
  • 17 Jan 1920 Fred E. Poyser is suing for a divorce from Effie Poyser. He alleges that she associated with other men and that they separated in 1913.
  • 17 Jan 1920 The divorce suit of Jacob Snouffer against Mary Snouffer was being tried yesterday before Judge W. N. Ballou in the superior court. The nature of the testimony was such that spectators of under age were excluded from the court room during the hearing.
  • 18 Jan 1920 The divorce suit of Maude Luce against William H. Luce, sent to DeKalb county some time ago on a change of venue, was redocketed in superior court yesterday morning and after the submission of evidence a decree was granted the plaintiff, who was also awarded the custody of four-year-old Mercelline Luce, an allowance of $3 per week for her support and $200 alimony. A petition suit filed by Mrs. Luce earlier in the day was decided at the same time and an order was entered naming C. P. Squires and Frank Emrick as commissioners to dispoae of the property and distrubute the proceeds.
  • 18 Jan 1920 The submission of evidence in the Schnaufer divorce suit was concluded yesterday morning and Judge Ballou, before whom the hearing was conducted, refused a decree either on the complaint or cross-complaint. The action was entitled Mary Schnaufer against Jacob Schnaufer.
  • 18 Jan 1920 Florence Schrader has been granted a divorce from John Schrader, with the provision that she does not remarry for two years.
  • 18 Jan 1920 Gustave A. Brown has filed a cross-complaint to the divorce petition of his wife, Alice Brown, in which he recites in detail the infelicities which arose in their married life from their wedding in 1917. He asserts that his wife is exceedingly extravagant, and is possessed of a restless disposition. In his efforts to please her, he declares, he has remodeled six different properties at Wabash and in Fort Wayne. Her reckless expenditures, he claimes, have prevented him fro accumulating a competence. The couple have a number of grown children.
  • 20 Jan 1920 Thomas F. March is seeking a divorce from Sophia March alleging that they married on August 25, 1918, and separated on January 18, 1920. He charges that she called him names and stayed away from home without offering an explanation. When children by a former marriage, aged 10 and 16, failed to perform the housework to suit her during her absence she cursed them, he declares. He avers that the fact that he was unable to give her the sum of $5 every week, as she wanted, was on cause of her outbreaks. He wants the custody of their children, two in number, and a restraining order to prevent her from annoying them, selling or encumbering their household goods or visiting their home at 3632 South Barr street.
  • 20 Jan 1920 A separation of bed and board for the term of two years is sought by Mary Epple in an action commenced yesterday against Henry Epple. She asserts that he refused to talk to her and told her that he wanted to make her as unhappy as possible. She wants $15 per week support money and a restraining order to prevent the defendant from molesting her.
  • 20 Jan 1920 Charging cruel and inhuman treatment, failure to provide, adultery, habitual drunkenness and abandonment, Mary B. Younghouse is seeking a divorce from Robert Younghouse. She declared that on one accasion he attacked her, tore some of her clothing from her and chased her into the street, barely clothed. She wants the custody of their children with an allowance for support.
  • 20 Jan 1920 A divorce was granted by Judge W. N. Ballou yesterday in the case of Howard Judd against Irene Judd. By agreement the custody of their two children was granted to the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dennison, of Atlantic, Iowa.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Nora Ulery is seeking a divorce from Marion Ulery alleging failure to provide and cruel treatment. She demands the custody of their four children, $1,000 alimony and an allowance for support.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Alleging the defendant is at present serving a sentence at the county penal farm for child neglect, Mildred Grimes is suing for a divorce from William Grimes. She also alleges failure to provide and infidelity.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Rose Kline is seeking a divorce from Chester W. Kline alleging failure to provide and infindelity. She alleges that he stayed away all night without making explanation. She wants the custody of their child and an allowance of $15 a week for support.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Charging that she refused to live with him and ordered him to leave their mutual home, Theodore Hoffman is seeking a divorce from Catherine Hoffman. They were married November 3, 1919, and separated on January 12, 1920.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Albert J. Kruse against Flossie Kruse, divorce, dismissed at plaintiff cost.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Vera Fern Jones against Tom Jones, divorce, dismissed for want of prosecution.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Bessie Garrison against John Garrison, divorce, dismissed for want of prosecution.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Leanora F. Toney against John Toney, divorce, dismissed for want of prosecution.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Edward E. Lash was granted a divorce from Bertha Lash with the provision that he is not to marry for two years.
  • 21 Jan 1920 Frank Scarbery was granted a divorce from Lillian Scarbery.
  • 22 Jan 1920 M. Monroe McPhail has filed suit for divorce from Mabel C. Mc Phail on the ground of abandonment. He alleges that she was disssatisfied with their residence in Fort Wayne and constantly desired to return to the west. When his business would not permit him to move she finally went alone, he avers, and since May, 1919, he has heard nothing of her.
  • 22 Jan 1920 In the divorce case of David S. against Margaret Dorman the defendant has filed a cross complaint in which she alleges failure to provide and cruel treatment. She also asks for the restoration of her maiden name, Margaret Ginther.
  • 22 Jan 1920 Hazel M. Sarver has been granted a divorce from Frank E. Sarver.
  • 22 Jan 1920 In the divorce case of Minnie Cook against Daniel Cook, the court found against both parties and refused the decree.
  • 22 Jan 1920 The divorce case of Maggie Rupert against Julius Rupert has been continued for the introduction of further evidence.
  • 23 Jan 1920 The divorce case of Minnie M. Smealey against James W. Smealey has been dismissed at the plaintiff's cost on a finding that the plaintiff is a non-resident of the state period.
  • 24 Jan 1920 Nora Jackson is suing for a divorce from Harry Jackson on the ground of cruel and inhuman treatment. She charges that he refused to permit her to leave their living apartments, furnished housekeeping, rooms and that when she went out to a picture show he falsely accused her. She also charges that he told her if she wanted more than a place to sleep and something to eat to get a job and go to work. She asks alimony in the sum of $3,000 and an allowance of $20 per week.
  • 24 Jan 1920 Mary E. Seitz is suing for a divorce from Harry Seitz, alleging that he abandoned her on September 18, 1919. She wants an allowance of $10 per week.
  • 24 Jan 1920 Harrison Skelton is seeking a divorce from Mary Louise Skelton alleging that she abandoned him on September 16, 1919.
  • 24 Jan 1920 Charging that she was obliged to work while her husband associated with women of loose morals and supported one of them, Georgia Shaw is suing for a divorce from Ward Shaw and asks the custody of their two children and an allowance for support.
  • 24 Jan 1920 Pearl Hissong, in a divorce petition against John L. Hissong, charges failure to provide and cruelty to herself and their children. She ask a restraining order to enjoin her husband from molesting her at their home, 1118 Polk street, the custody of their children and an allowance for their support.

  • 28 Jan 1920 Glenn Scarberry is seeking a divorce from Gertrude Scarberry and alleges that the defendant associated with immoral men for immoral purposes.
  • 28 Jan 1920 Charges of extreme cruelty are included in the divorce compalint filed by Sarah Middleton against George A. Middleton. She declares that he has kicked her, choked her and beat her and called her vile names in the presence of their children. She asks for the custody of their children.

Ferris was presented in superior court yesterday and at the same time Mrs. Ferris has filed a cross-complaint in the case. She alleges that her husband struck her and cursed her.
  • 28 Jan 1920 In the divorce proceedings of Pearl Beam against Charles E. Beam a decree was granted the plaintiff together with the custody of Carl Beam, aged 11.
  • 28 Jan 1920 Finding for plaintiff in the divorce case of Benjamin Kinery against Viola Kinery, together with the custody of Violet, aged 2, and Thelma, aged 5.
  • 29 Jan 1920 Alleging that her husband became inflamed with rage when he was unable to secure liquor and that on these occasions he abused her, on one accasion striking her while she has their infant child in her arms. Emily Glenn is seeking a divorce from Harry H. Glenn. She sets out that she applied last summer for a limited separation with an allowance and that when she took such action her husband left for parts unknown. She asks the custody of the children.

  • 29 Jan 1920 The divorce action of Mary A. Lantz against Jacob J. Lantz has been dismissed.
  • 30 Jan 1920 Camille M. Redard is seeking a divorce from Jean U. Redard. She alleges that her husband left her and refused to provide for her, insisting on association with other women.
  • 30 Jan 1920 Dorothy Remmert is seeking a divorce from Lloyd Remmert charging that he stayed out late at night, refused to make proper provisions for her, called her names and on one accasion struck her. She wants a restraining order, to prevent his visiting her home at 503 West Third street for the purpose of molesting her, and an allowence of $10 per week.

  • 30 Jan 1920 The divorce case of Ralph P. Steinbacker against Ruth E. Steinbacker was dismissed for lack of prosecution.

  • 31 Jan 1920 In the divorce proceedings of Venetia Tarner against William Tarner a decree was entered for the plaintiff with an allowance of $7 per week for the support of minor children.

  • 01 Feb 1920 A demand for alimony in the sum of $20,000 is the principal feature of a sensationa complaint for divorce filed yesterday by Cora Oetting against Frederick Oetting. Mrs. Oetting charges that her husband ordered her to leave him, threatened to kill her, struck her, and made her perform manual labor and provide her own clothing. She declared that he owns real estate worth $50,000 in addition to unappraised personal property. She asks a restraining order to prevent his visiting her at her home at 1120 Crescent avenue.
  • 01 Feb 1920 Barbara Hensler has filed suit for divorce against Henry Hensler with a demand for alimony in the sum of $500. She charges cruel and inhuman treatment and asks the restoration of her maiden name, Barbara Hohmeier.
  • 01 Feb 1920 Pearl G. Ross is seeking a divorce from John H. Ross. She charges desertion and demands an award of alimony and an allowance of $9 per week.
  • 01 Feb 1920 Finding was entered for the plaintiff in the divorce action of Ada Tully against Eugene M. Tully. The plaintiff was also granted the restoration of her maiden name, Ada M. Smith.
  • 01 Feb 1920 A divorce was granted Clara Hass against Joseph Hass with an award of $310 alimony.
  • 01 Feb 1920 Katherine Wagner was granted a divorce from Maurice Wagner and was granted the restoration of her maiden name, Katherine Coleman. She was ordered not to marry for two years.

  • 04 Feb 1920 Minnie M. Allison is seeking a divorce from John L. Allison on the ground of failure to provide. She alleges that he is at present at Bloomington, Ill., and that he refuses to come to Fort Wayne to live with her. She asks an allowance for the support of a minor child.
  • 04 Feb 1920 Nora Toor is seeking a divorce from John Toor alleging cruel treatment, failure to provide and habitual drunkenness. She declares that her husband treated her with great cruelty when he was under the influence of liquor and she wants an injunction to restrain him from visiting her at her premises at 816 East Lewis street.
  • 05 Feb 1920 The suit of Marie Schoenlein against Elmer Schoenlein, for divorce, has been dismissed by the plaintiff.
  • 05 Feb 1920 Mayme Mong yesterday brought suit for divorce from George V. Mong. She alleges cruel treatment and aks for the custody of three minor children.
  • 06 Feb 1920 Pearl Gay Ross is charged with cruel and inhuman treatment of John Henry Ross in divorce proceedings instituted by him yesterday. The plaintiff charges that his wife absented herself at meal time and that she has a bad temper.
  • 07 Feb 1920 Ida E. Stiver yesterday filed suit for divorce from Lewis J. Stiver seeking to bring to an end a married life of forty years. She sets out the she and the defendant were united in marriage in September, 1879, and that they separated five years ago. She seeks a divorce on the ground that during the last five years and for two years prior to their separation her husband did not contribute to her support.
  • 08 Feb 1920 The divorce suit of Marcella Jordan against Guy Jordan has been dismissed in the superior court.
  • 10 Feb 1920 When the plaintiff in the divorce suit of Nova Ethel Adams against Anthony Adams declared that she resided at Bluffton, Judge Ballou in superior court ended a finding that his court had no jurisdiction in the case.
  • 13 Feb 1920 Charging cruelty, Mrs. Clara Miller has filed for a divorce against Carl Miller. She also asks for $2,000 alimony. The couple were married in August 1911, and separated on Gebruary 12, 1920.
  • 14 Feb 1920 A married life of two weeks ended by desertion is the allegation on which Audrey Pauline Smith is seeking a divorce from Lawrence W. Smith with the restoration of her maiden name. She alleges that she lived with her husband for two weeks at the home of his parents, and that at the end of that time he sent her home while he went to Cleveland, and that she has been unable to even arrange an interview with him since. She alleges that he is an habitual gambler, runs around with other women and never gave her any money.
  • 14 Feb 1920 Clara Miller is seeking a divorce from Carl Miller, alleging that he called her names and failed to provide for her. She wants an allowance of $15 per week and $2,000 alimony.

  • 18 Feb 1920 A new chapter was added to the tribulations of Forrest and Chloe Kreigh yesterday when Forrest instituted replevin proceedings to recover the liberty bonds and money which he alleges that she removed from his safety deposit box. He charges that she took four $50 liverty bonds and $750 in cash. A restraining order has already been secured to enjoin her from disposing of any of the cash.

  • 26 Feb 1920 The tale of two eggs, fried by Mrs. Dorman and eaten by David, her husband, proved to be the concluding evidence which turned the scales of justice in superior court yesterday when Judge William N. Ballou granted a divorce to Mrs. Dorman on her cross complaint and also granted the restoration of her maiden name, Margaret Smith. In her recital of her domestic woes Mrs. Dorman declared that her husband earned $110 per month, which he reserved for his personal expenditures, and that it became necessary for her to earn money to buy groceries, resting under her husband's emphatic disapproval if the weekly returns were not up to the standard he established. Among the eatables in the Dorman menage were some eggs donated by Mrs. Dorman's father. Eggs have long been classed as a luxury and mindful of this facr, Dorman the testimony brought out, chided his wife for using them too lavishly. Under his admonition, Mrs. Dorman related, she cooked only two of the eggs for their breakfast and he thereupon devoured both of them, declaring that he worked hard all day and needed sustaining food. "We have further evidence alson this line," Attorney A. E. Thomas representing Mrs. Dorman. "That's enought," said the court. "Judgement for the defendant." Mrs. Dorman's story of the lopsided dietary arrangement was heard by a number of interested attorneys and court attaches at noon yesterday.

She also charges that he cursed her before their children and was cuilty of violation of the marriage vows.

The suit to annul their marriage was brought by mutual agreement owing to the fact that the bride had given a ficticious name when they were first married.

Mrs. McKinzie's cross-complaint was filed and she charges that her husband failed to provide for her properly and took other women out to the theatre.

She wants alimony in the sum of $4,000 and a restraining order to prevent him from molesting her at her home at 1234 Scott avenue.

Each of the principals was ordered to pay for the support of two minor children, who were given into the custody of the grandmother, Mrs. Mary Klingman, and their visits with the children are based on the payment of the weekly sums. The father is to pay $11 a week and the mother $2 a week. The latter is to be put on deposit in the Citizens Trust company and held in trust for the children. Mr. Warnick was granted a divorce on his cross complaint. The court refused to allow one of the children to go on the witness stand and testify against the mother.

  • 09 Jul 1920 Judge Ballou yesterday found for the defendants in the action of John M. Flaugh against Nora Flaugh and other, for a restraining order, and dissolved the temporary injuction issued earlier in the week. The plaintiff sought to enjoin three of his children from entering on his premises and the showing was made in court that one of the sons, named as a defendant, had the farm under lease. At the same time an action was filed against Mr. Flaugh by Mary R. Flaugh, his wife, seeking $10,000 for a separate maintenance. She sets out that they were married in 1888 and that their entire married life has been marred by his abuse. She also charges that he failed to provide for her and the other members of the family and that he forced her to do hard manual work while she was in poor health.

  • 13 Jul 1920 On motion of borth parties the divorce proceedings of Agnes LaRue against Wilbur LaRue was dismissed yesterday in superior court after a large part of the day had been devoted to hearing a portion of the evidence, the nature of which attracted spectators. Following the dismissing of the cause there was a violent altercation in the courthouse basement between the principals in the action and Mrs. LaRue declared her intention of instituting criminal proceedings against her husband.

Creson, at Kokomo at high noon and that during the afternoon the defendant met a former lady friend and decamped to Chicago with her. Later, she testified, he was arrested in a western state on a charge of wife desertion and is now serving a prison sentence. Mrs. Creson was granted the restoration of her maiden name, Georgie B. Slagle. She is a South Whitley girl.

She alleges that her husband is guilty of cruel treatment, that he has associated with other women and has admitted the same to her. They have three children, Lucile, 6, Louise, 4, and Fred, Jr., one and one-half years of ages. She asks a divorce, the custody of the children and $1,000 alimony with an allowance of $20 per week for the support of herself and children. At present time the plaintiff is living at the Pixley relief home. Her husband is a sign painter by profession.

Mrs. Flack charged that her husband abused her and failed to provide a suitable home for her.

  • 21 Jul 1920 Hysterics of several varieties marked the divorce trial of John Armstrong against Merl Armstrong in superior court yesterday. Judge Ballou granted a divorce to Mr. Armstrong and also awarded him the custody of Dorothy, the five-year-old daughter. The court's decision was the signal for a violent outburst by Mrs. Armstrong who screamed loud enough to be heard throughout the entire court house. Mrs. Armstong's mother made a rush at the plaintiff as soon as the verdict was announced and threatened to kill him rather than see the child in his possession. Court officials had difficulty in quieting the women and getting them from the court house. The complaint in the case contained the allegation that the defendant neglected her household duties in order to gratify her penchant for attending public dances.

The plaintiff sets out that they were married at Battle Creek, Mich., on December 9, 1918, where the defendant, a soldier, was stationed. She declares that after they has lived together for five days the defendant declared to her that their marriage was not bonafide and that he would not be bound by it. He thereupon deserted her, she declares, and she has not seen him since, although she has learned throught the war department that his real name was Aram Agemian, the name Allen Aram being a sort of nom de amour.

Owing to an involved property settlement the hearing of the cause required the greater part of the afternoon. The plaintiff was awarded alimony in the sum of $1,000 and a further property settlement was reached in an agreement made with the approval of the court. The plaintiff is to receive monthly payments of $25 until the alimony and a durther sum agreed upon is paid. A judgment of $2,000 for attorneys' fees was entered.

Mrs. Feighter states in her complaint that her husband is guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment, alleging that he is extremely jealous and that living with him became intolerable. They were married in 1907, the complaint alleges, that 11 children were born to them, ten of whom are living, six being minors. It is alleged that the property east of the city owned by the defendant is valued at $15,000, and that other property, including money in banks, amounts ot $30,000. In addition to the judgement for $20,000 the plaintiff also asks for the custody of the minor children and a suitable allowance for their care and the allowance of $1,000 for the attorney's fee.
