1882

Allen County Bastardy cases as found in Fort Wayne Daily Gazette unless otherwise noted.

  • 7 Jan 1882 Yesterday morning a warrant was issued by Justice Harding against Henry Leidoff, a farmer of Adams Township on complaint of Matilda Roerghan, for bastardy. The fair Matilda yesterday became the mother of a pair of female twins, which she claims should be fathered by Leidoff. The babies were born at the residence of Adam Frier, the second-hand man on Calhoun Street at which place she engaged a day or two ago as housekeeper.

  • 19 Mar 1882 The case of the state of Indiana on the relation of Jennie May McGregor vs. Benajah C. Thomas for bastardy will come up for trial in the circuit court on Monday evening.
  • 21 Mar 1882 The bastardy case in which Jennie May McGregor and Ben C. Thomas were the most interested parties has been compromised by the latter paying the former $125. The crime was committed two years ago and the fruit of the illicit amour has since died.

  • 5 Oct 1882 The jury in the bastardy case of Julia A. Kistler vs. John P. Johnson returned a verdict for the defendant.
