At the 29 minute mark of the Amy Johnson Crow video was a comment about the Retiring and Migrating Portions of RootsWeb on the Rootsweb Support page shown below:

Ancestry is also retiring WorldConnect family trees and Hosted Websites!
Shown in webpage screenshot below:

RootsWeb was founded in 1996 and has had an extraordinarily long and successful run, outlasting nearly every other website originating in those early days of the internet. RootsWeb has far exceeded its founders' expectations regarding longevity and its central role in creating an online genealogy community, but maintaining RootsWeb forever is not a viable long-term solution. We recognize the valuable genealogical information RootsWeb offers and are working to keep that community knowledge alive by migrating it to Ancestry and other places throughout 2023.

Mailing Lists Archives (last updated in 2020) will be retired on 6 April 2023 and migrated to an alternative, free platform. Once migration is complete, we’ll provide a link to them on the RootsWeb home page.

WorldConnect family trees (last updated on 9 August 2021) will be retired on 15 April 2023 and migrated to Ancestry as a new free-access collection later in the year. For help removing a tree or its content, contact us.

Hosted websites will become read-only beginning in early 2024. At that time, all logins will be disabled, but hosted sites will remain on RootsWeb as static content. Website owners wishing to maintain their sites must migrate to a different hosting provider before 2024.

Rootsweb Mailing List

In January 2020 Rootsweb posted this message:

Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb.

Google Groups Replacement

In response to the announcement above, on January 20, 2020, the current Rootsweb admin started the Allen County, Indiana Genealogy Group INALLEN@groups.io a Google group. This group overs many features the Rootsweb mailling list did not offer. These features are: Messages, Hashtags, New Topic, New Poll, Chats, Directory, Calendar, Photos, Files, Databases, and Wiki. So far as of May 2022 there have been three photographs with family information posted for the Taylor Family, Hiller Family, and Fisher-Polston Family.

The Rootsweb Mailing List is an email subscription list for Allen County, Indiana related genealogical discussions at Rootsweb.Ancestry.com. All of Rootsweb was revised starting in 2018 so some older functions may be missing and links may no longer work. You can Browse the INAllen Mailing List Archives back to January 1998.

This Mailing List is different from the ACGSI Queries Page which posts Queries to the ACGSI site with a Searchable Index or the Rootsweb Message Board which is a searchable Rootsweb site. We suggest you use all available resources for researching Allen County, Indiana relatives.

You can Subscribe to the INAllen Rootsweb Mailing List.

Rootsweb Message Board

The Allen Rootsweb Message Board postings are searchable.

Some Rootsweb Mailing Lists and Message Boards are one and the same. For whatever reason our Rootsweb Allen County, Indiana Mailing List and Message Board are separate lists so it is useful to subscribe to the list and periodically search the Message Board so you don't miss anything related to your families.
