THE LEGEND OF THE BROKEN BRIDGE 👻 In the late 1800s Farmer Anton Salomon and his sons Edward, Henry, and Walter were...
In the late 1800s Farmer Anton Salomon and his sons Edward, Henry, and Walter were working the land in the far south fields, planting corn, when it began to rain. Farmer Salomon thought that they had time to finish up one last row. Soon it began down-pouring. The rain became so heavy that the men could barely see the heads of the horses from their seats on the plow. It was then that they decided that they needed to head back to the barn (now the historic Old Barn), quickly.
The only way to get to the barn from the back field was a bridge over the creek. When Farmer Salomon and his sons arrived at the bridge they found the creek was flooded and the bridge had been engulfed. They had no choice but to cross the bridge as best they could. They attempted to cross the bridge with as much speed the tired and frightened horses could muster, but the very second that the plow hit the bridge there was a loud CRACK. The bridge was struck by lightening. Farmer Salomon, his sons, the horses, and the plow all tumbled into the flooded creek.
Miraculously they all fought the strong current and crawled out of the creek to survive the awful storm and accident. This bridge has remained untouched to this very day, broken as the day when Farmer Salomon was on it.
Explore the 170 acres to find the historic old bridge in Beckett's Run for a fun and spooky hike. Happy Halloween!
