Description: Picture postcard of Art Smith and his wife Aimee Cour Smith with his self-built airplane. Art Smith is holding a wheel that was among the flight controls of the airplane. Printed on the front of the postcard is: "LOOP-THE-LOOP AVIATOR" and "Mr & Mrs Art Smith the first couple in the world to elope in an Aeroplane." Smith (from Fort Wayne, IN) traveled the world as an exhibition pilot during the 1910s. Later he was a pioneer air mail pilot, but was killed in a crash near Bryan, OH.
