| Query: | Hello, I have been searching for information on my grandparents. Their surname likely changed several times as they were from Germany (confirmed by American census). The last name on my grandfather's death certificate is Wafer. But, in the box where father's last name goes, my grandmother gave the last name of Racht. This would make sense since this this is a German surname and Wafer is English (which they were not). At some point their names were changed. Possibly to sound less German. They lived on Fort Weisser Park, Fort Wayne. All of my research comes to a dead end. There is no one living to assist.
