| Query: | Looking for the death date and burial location of Marie Frances Bartholomew. She was born in Petitmagny, France on 1 Jan 1831, a daughter of Francois Saussote and Marie Francoise Monnier. She immigrated to the US in June 1840. She married Hiram Bane Bartholomew, sometimes referred to as H. B. Bartholomew. They were in Allen County in the 1860 and 1870 census, and Hiram Bartholomew was in the city directory until 1874. He left Allen County immediately after her death. Her parents are buried in the Besancon Cemetery and the family was angry that Hiram did not bury her in a Catholic Cemetery, thus his hasty departure. She died after Sept 1873 when my grandmother Silesteen Bartholomew was born. So she died between then and 1875. She may have gone by the name Mary, Marie, or Frances. In 1902 there was a suit brought by John Dupeyron, husband of Celestine Saussotte, my great grandmother's sister, who died in 1898. The Ft Wayne paper for that year calls her Frances Bartholomew, deceased. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
